Run Date: February 7, 2010

San Jose Mercury News

HomeAid Northern California is pleased
to announce it has received a $20,000
grant from the Bank of America Charitable
Foundation. These funds will be used to
support two projects, the development of the
Shepherd’s Gate Life Center in Livermore
that will support battered women and their
children, and the next phase of the Bridge to
Life Center in Fairfield. The Fairfield project
by Mission Solano, an interfaith collaboration
serving homeless people, will provide a dining
hall, single men’s building and a care-taker’s
building as part of the overall campus which
will also include the recently completed family
units, women and children’s building and day
care center.
Mark Williams, 2009 HomeAid Board
President states, “HomeAid is grateful for
the support of Bank of America. With the
numbers of homeless families and children
ever-increasing, we are needed now more
than ever.”
“Bank of America is proud to recognize
HomeAid Northern California for the fine
work that it does helping to solve homeless
issues,” said Drew Lisac, who heads the
Corporate Social Responsibility team in the
East Bay. “HomeAid works through a unique
collaboration of home builder companies
who provide donated materials, crews, and
leadership. We feel that this collaborative
model truly transforms the lives of homeless
people, and Bank of America is pleased to
provide support.”
The Shepherd’s Gate Life Center is the
third project HomeAid has adopted for this
organization. Says Shepherd’s Gate Executive
Director, Steve McRee, “HomeAid has
supported Shepherd’s Gate and its ministry for
the last ten years. With this partnership, we
can provide the necessary life-changing skills
to get women and children back on their feet
and not spend critical financial resources on
construction. It is a true partnership that works.
This generous gift from Bank of America will
allow us to complete the Life Center on time.”
Of the Mission Solano Bridge to Life Center,
Builder Captain and 2010 HomeAid Board
President, Dave Sanson of DeNova Homes
says this, “When completed, this project will
provide up to 192 men, women and children
a home while they rebuild their lives. The
Bridge to Life Center will be a model of the
kind of place these people deserve to live in, to
allow them to once again thrive in a dignified,
beautiful place. HomeAid is gratified for this
contribution from Bank of America to make
this project a reality.”
